A step-by-step guide to setting up and using Linear Integration for monday.com.
Install Linear Integration from the monday.com marketplace. Only account administrators can install apps.
During installation, you will be asked to grant permissions. The app requires:
After installation:
When you open the board view for the first time, you will be prompted to authorize the app. This grants Linear Integration permission to create items and columns on your boards.
Click Connect Linear in the board view. A new tab opens to Linear's OAuth authorization page. Log in to Linear (if needed) and click Authorize.
The app requests read and write access to your Linear workspace, including admin access for managing webhooks (required for real-time sync). Once authorized, return to monday.com and click I've Completed Authorization.
After connecting, click New Sync to start the 4-step setup wizard.
Choose which Linear team and projects to sync:
Choose which group on your monday.com board should receive the synced issues. Each sync maps to one group. You can create multiple syncs to different groups on the same board.
Select which Linear fields to sync. For each enabled field, Linear Integration will automatically create the appropriate column on your board (or reuse an existing column with the same name). Available fields:
Review your sync configuration and optionally customize the display name. Toggle Sync existing issues to pull in all current issues from the selected projects, or leave it off to only sync new issues going forward.
Click Confirm to start. A progress bar shows the sync status. Once complete, your board is live with real-time updates.
Once a sync is active, everything is automatic:
The dashboard shows all syncs for the current board. Each sync card displays:
You can pause a sync to temporarily stop updates (the Linear webhook is removed), resume it to re-enable updates (a new webhook is created), or delete it entirely. Existing items on the board are never removed when you pause or delete a sync.
Note: Issues created or updated in Linear while a sync is paused will not be retroactively synced when you resume. Only new changes after resuming will be captured.
You can run multiple syncs on the same board — for example, one sync for the Engineering team and another for Platform, each targeting a different group.
